R&R Sport - a bit of history!

R&R Sport opened in 1982 in Dunedin as Recycled Recreation, a store specialising in second hand sports gear. My how we have changed! There are now nine stores nationwide - Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Nelson, Kaikoura, Dunedin, Queenstown, and two stores in Christchurch. As the market changed so did the shops with a name change in 1990 to R&R Sport to reflect the fact that ninety-five percent our product is new gear. We added our online service via the website in 2001, with a major overhaul and upgrade in late 2008.

We stock wetsuits, surf boards, bodyboards, water skis and wakeboards, packs and sleeping bags, dome tents, canvas tents, hiking tents, a full range of camping accessories, hiking and out door clothing, bikes and all clothing parts and accessories for bikes, outdoor footwear, boots and sandals, snowboards, skis, snow and surf clothing and kayaks. We have world renowned and experienced footwear, ski and snowboard boot fitters. We have a full ski, snowboard and bike workshop in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Nelson, and Dunedin.

The website products are a selection of the key stock we carry in our stores nationwide. Each store has over 4000 product lines. Chances are we can get it for you or at least offer some advice on how to obtain what you are after. Each store has a strong regional flavour to their products as well, so we may have what you are after at one of our 9 stores.

The product knowledge and practical experience of the staff is a key strength of R&R Sport. Our staff use the gear they sell, so they really can speak from experience. We also have an ongoing and extensive product training schedule for the staff – to ensure they are up to speed with the latest technology and can give you the right advice. Our staff have assisted us in the writing of the website information and help pages and we regularly refer to the "expert" within the store to answer online questions.

We stock mountainbikes, roadbikes, kids bikes, BMX, commuting and serious downhill bikes.

Our bike departments specialise in providing excellence in service and knowledge for everyone from the recreational rider to the serious downhiller or road racer. Our staff also ride bikes and we use their experience, paired with the ‘Dialed in Motion' bike fitting system to ensure we get the correct bike fit for you (this is an instore service only.)

We have a large number of tents on permanent display in our stores over summer. So if you are able to, pop into one of our stores so you can have the opportunity to truly compare the internal useable sizes of the tents and make an informed choice. We have canvas, Dome and Adventure tents and all the accessories you will need from furniture and cookers to headlamps.

We have over 130 staff who we can call on to assist with your queries. We regularly consult them for that hard to find information that is not always on the website, and to answer your queries.
