Staff Profiles

Alvar
Alvar started riding bikes back in Mexico on the velodromes then expanded into mountain biking, skate boarding and surfing along the Pacific coast of Mexico. He also worked for Extreme sport companies doing lots of Bungy jumping, climbing and building climbing walls. In an extreme sports park, in the mountains of Jalisco, he managed small and large groups of people doing a lot of camping, outdoors activities, like Paint ball and extreme confidence canopy courses.

Scotty
Scotty has been in and out of the R&R family for a good decade or so. Starting at R&R Dunedin for a few years part-time while "studying" at Otago University, he then took a brief sabbatical for three years to teach high school kids about the ways of the world. But he's back now, and running the bike department in the Wellington store. Scotty raced a few years of downhill MTBing and also dabbled in BMX and track, but for now has turned to the dark side of cross-country mountainbiking, with the occasional road race thrown in (although he claims he will be on another big squishy DH bike soon to huck off stuff and ride fast-like and stuff). Having been in the industry for so long, Scotty knows his stuff about bikes, bikes, bikes - and a lot of the other outdoorsy stuff that R&R sells as well. If he's not at work, you'll probably find him out on his MTB or road bike getting some sneaky training in for the upcoming season.
