Shop Profile
Queenstown opened in December 2004, with expansions completed in October 2008. The store caters for skiers and snowboarders in winter as well as multisporters, bikers, hikers, travellers and tourists in summer.Carrying the international brands of the R&R group, it is the exclusive supplier of The North Face in Queenstown. The shop has long hours and this allows the staff to go out and play in the mornings, evenings or afternoons so we are regularly tracking them down on the ski field or out in the hills.
Queenstown have a large compliment of international staff & when it comes to boot fitting, snow & bike knowledge they are up there with the best in the world. They also provide a high level of entertainment
The store has recently added in a technological bike fitting system - Dialled in Motion – to ensure they can get you the best possible fit on your bike. Give them a call to book in for a session – its well worth it if you are planning on doing a few k’s on your bike (mountain or road).
The shop also now offers snow and ski rental and can kit you out in full gear - from snow accessories to new skis, and snowboards at truly affordable prices!
The store stocks leading national and international brands – Icebreaker, Giant, Trek, GT, Marmot, Mountain Equipment, The North Face, Columbia, Rossignol, Burton, Salomon, Volkl, K2, Quiksilver, Roxy, Ripcurl, Osprey, Vaude, Deuter, Coleman, Freedom, Merrell, Meindl, Teva, and many more.

Staff Profiles
Akira Kuroe
Akira has lost a significant amount of weight after being crowned the WWSF (World Wide Sumo Federation) “Sumo of the Year” 3 years running. He left the Japanese high-life for a more domesticated normality in NZ & spends his days doting on his young family, tangling with computer programmes & generating havoc instore with a knotted rope.
Ben Patty
- Our resident Frenchman…bringing with him a longing for red wine, smelly cheese & French pastries (although he now seems pretty content with Speights, Mainland Tasty & a Jimmy’s pie). Ben joined us in our first winter & has been back & forward since. He speaks 15 different languages, skis like the Mad Frenchman he is & falls off his bike with ease.
Hadyn Key
- Immigrated from the North Island in the search of powder in the early 90’s & hasn’t been back having fallen in love with the southern hills. Spent a decade or so Adventure Racing & Multi-sporting & now he occasionally ‘gets off the couch’ for more social events (as long as there is Brewski at the finish)
Liz Wallace
Liz has been with us from the start & lifts the average age of our staff. An experienced skier & wonderful all-round staffmember. If she’s not instore you’ll find her skiing, biking, walking, yoga-ing or somewhere in Norway
Mark Williams
Carp fisherman extraordinaire. Hailing from the UK he saw the (Southern) light & now resides in Queenstown when he is not riding his bike or ski touring. Once had tea & scones with the Queen & still stays up late watching Man United.
Phil Parker
Yet another Import from the UK Phil brings with him a vast knowledge of everything ski. Having followed winters since before he was out of nappies (& we do pity his parents here!) Phil fell in love with NZ. Having stayed put in Queenstown for the last 2 years he is well on his way to achieving his goal of finally “staying in one place & getting a truck, a dog, & a girlfriend” (in that order?)
Rachel
You won’t see her instore as she is up in the Control Room helping ensure that R&R Sport Queenstown keeps an even keel. Or you may find her at her other 20 or so jobs…it seems that Rachel has 30+ hours in her day & works 40 of them!
Simon (one arm) Robinson
Also representing Generation “Y”. Si is the one with his arm in a sling most of the time! After a billion or so shoulder dislocations he is finally getting the surgery he needs. Another North Island import with snowboarding & filming on his mind. He is dreaming of a honeymoon in the snow somewhere (but don’t tell his fiancé)
Tom
Tom is one of those very fit freaks who manages to squeeze in races every other weekend – mountainbike, roadbike, 24 hour adventure races, even the Southern Traverse. He’s a pom and came to Dunedin in December 2000, after cycle touring around, to study for his Physed degree at Otago University . Working part-time at R&R helped fund his sports obsessions and now that he has graduated, he is a full-timer at R&R. Ask him anything about bikes, adventure racing gear, snow gear...anything really...
